Quality Oil, headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina since 1929, has the largest independent oil storage facility in the city. The company is family-owned and managed and supplies home heating oil, kerosene and propane to homes and businesses in Piedmont North Carolina. They also provide provide propane appliance sales, service and installation of above-ground and underground propane tanks. Since 1934, its Reliable Tank Lines has transported petroleum products to businesses throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee.
The company also operates more than 30 Quality Marts - gas and convenience stores, 40 Quality Plus stations, and 28 franchised Shell stations. Quality Oil Company, LLC owns and manages award-winning Hampton Inns, Hampton Inn & Suites, Sleep Inn and Homewood Suites hotels in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia.
In 1994 the company branched into real estate development with the development of Greenbrier Farms - 430 acres of beautifully rolling terrain with woods, streams and lakes. In 2004 the company began development of Brookberry Farm, the former private country estate of the late Bowman Gray Jr. The 800+ acres will be one of Winston-Salem’s largest community developments featuring residential and mixed use properties.
The company was started in 1930 by cousins Joe Glenn, Jr. and Bert Bennett, Sr. with the construction of the eight seashell-shaped stations in the Winston area. Graham Bennett serves as the company's current president.
