Glenns fund Carolinian Scholarship at Christ School
Since 2001, Andrea and Vernon Glenn have funded a partial college scholarship for a deserving student from Christ School in Asheville, North Carolina. Christ School is a college preparatory school affiliated with the Episcopal Church whosemission is to produce educated men of good character, prepared for both scholastic achievement in college and productive citizenship in adult society. The scholarship is a $4000 annual award and is renewable with a yearly B average.
Calvin Covington, a member of Christ School's class of 2001, received the scholarship for the past four years. He graduated in May 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored in Business Administration. At UNC-CH, he was a walk-on member of the Tarheel football team and selected as a member to the honored Order of the Bell Tower. He also served on the Student Activities committee and was a senior class marshall.
Calvin, who is originally from Brooklyn, New York, is earning his masters degree in Business at Hampton University. An historically black institution, Hampton University is committed to multiculturalism. The University serves students from diverse national, cultural and economic backgrounds.
